WHAT IT IS
INDONESIAN Vice-President Jusuf Kalla will make a two-day visit to Singapore, beginning on Thursday.
This will be his first official trip to the Republic after taking office. His visit comes on the heels of last week’s trip to Jakarta by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, who invited Mr Jusuf to visit the city-state.
WHY IT MATTERS
Mr Jusuf’s visit to Singapore should take bilateral ties to a higher level – there has been a slew of top-level exchanges between the two countries over the past few months. During the visit, he will give a talk to Network Indonesia, a forum aimed at strengthening ties between businessmen in both countries.
He will also launch the Indonesia-Singapore Friendship Association.
