DERWIN AMONG THE GUERILLAS

“We don’t need sophisticated equipment to rip apart a white man’s head. We can do it with our bare hands.”

These are the words of a guerilla fighter who is among a motley bunch of 730 men being trained for hit-and-run attacks against the Australian peacekeepers in East Timor.

Our correspondent Derwin Pereira (left) spent three days among these men in their jungle hideout in West Timor to bring you this exclusive report.
