EXIT SUHARTO – INDONESIANS WHO FLED

More than 7,000 students remained last night in the Parliament compound, many vowing to stay on indefinitely until their demands for political reform were met.

Some student representatives said their colleagues would only leave after a special session of the People’s Consultative Assembly was convened and a new President elected.

More than 10,000 had been occupying the grounds over the last four days.
