Party leader slams ‘biased’ reporting

A GOLKAR legislator has lashed out at foreign journalists for biased coverage on Indonesia.

“I have received many complaints from my constituents that the foreign media is exploiting the situation in Indonesia,” said party executive Theo Sambuaga.

“You are so biased and you are not objective. I urge you to cover both sides of the story,” he added.

President Suharto has also hit out at the Indonesian media for its “disproportional” reporting on the economic crisis.

Earlier this month, he said that the press reported rumours and news frequently without checking on their accuracy and impact on the country.
