Veronica Lukito
Veronica Lukito, who was once named by Forbes as one of the 10 Inspiring Women and Asia’s Power Business Women, is deeply involved in emerging economies and investments in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia. She brings a wealth of commercial experience for Pereira International.
Veronica is currently Managing Director at Trans Asia Private Capital, which is a major private debt fund based in Hong Kong. She is also CEO of Merge Mining Industri, which is an underground coal mine in Indonesia under the investment of TransAsia Private Capital. She served as a member of the International Reference Group, which advises Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the Innovation Exchange. She was also a counsel on the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada as an advisor.
She founded Ancora Capital Management, where she was the CEO and Managing Director for seven years. Ancora is an Indonesia-focused private equity fund management firm founded in 2007. Since then, Ancora and its predecessor entities have invested close to US$400 million, primarily in natural resources such as coal and palm oil, consumer-related and similar businesses with interests in these areas.
Veronica has established various businesses for investments in plantation, health care, and education over 20 years. With experience on the ground, and connections with governments in Asia, she is deeply knowledgeable of developments in the region.
Her stellar credentials go back two decades. Before becoming an entrepreneur and private equity investor, she was a vice-president in the investment banking division at J.P. Morgan in Indonesia, sourcing and executing numerous transactions that covered financing, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring deals. Prior to this, she spent two years at Indosat, the second-largest telecommunication operator in Indonesia.
Veronica started her career in investment banking as an assistant vice-president at PT Bahana Securities, which was the de-facto partner of Goldman Sachs in Indonesia. Veronica also spent three years as a corporate and credit banker at Citibank N.A. in Jakarta, handling top-tier Indonesian conglomerates. Veronica earned her Bachelor in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. She also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
