Sorry kids, no raise

INDONESIA’S Central Bank director Miranda Goeltom is adamant about not raising her children’s allowances during these times of economic hardship.

“How could I raise their allowances when I myself have not received a salary increment this year?” the 49-year-old mother of two daughters said.

The Jakarta Post quoted her as saying that the rising prices of goods made it impossible for her to give her children extra pocket money.

“I have never given my daughters more than what they need. I assume that if they don’t ask me for more money, they have spent it efficiently.

“They tell me about the crisis and know what it is doing to people here,” she said.
