Tycoon swears by tennis

Prominent Indonesian business tycoon Sofyan Wanandi (above) has headed Down Under to watch the Australian Open championships, a day after clearing allegations that he had links with a banned organisation.

“I love tennis and will not miss anything in the world for the championship,” he told The Sunday Times. “Tennis is a cure for my problems.”

Mr Wanandi last week denied that he was connected with the banned People’s Democratic Party suspected to be behind moves to destabilise Indonesia before the presidential election.

He said: “I am very happy everything is over. Time for some tennis now.”
