Exhausted Sarwono fazed by the haze

Environment Minister Sarwono Kusumaatmadja is fazed by the haze in Indonesia.

“This bugs me to tell you the truth. I’m so stressed out by all this,” he told The Sunday Times.

He said that he was working round the clock to come up with solutions.

“I have had two press conferences and several meetings in the last few hours and there’s more to come,” said a rather tired-looking Mr Sarwono, who is coordinating efforts to tackle the problem.

Environment Ministry officials said that they were also feeling the pressure. Mr Sarwono expected staff from the ministry and related government agencies to provide, without fail, regular updates on changing climatic conditions.

Said one official: “We’re all in this together. It’s rather tiring but we’re coping.”
