THREE CALL ON PM GOH: Three visiting leaders who attended The Asia Society’s international business conference here met Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong yesterday for discussions on bilateral and economic issues.
New Zealand Prime Minister James Bolger and Mr Goh discussed Singapore’s efforts to encourage local companies to go regional. The two leaders also reiterated their support for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Amnuay Viravan, called on Mr Goh to explore the possibility of teaming up in economic ventures in third countries.
Mr Goh also met Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Industry and Trade, Dr Hartarto Sastrosoenarto. They discussed Jakarta’s preparation for the Apec leaders meeting, which Indonesia is chairing in November.
