Louis J. Freeh

Judge Louis Joseph Freeh is an American attorney and former judge who served as the fifth Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from September 1993 to June 2001. Freeh began his career as a special agent in the FBI, and was later an Assistant United States Attorney and United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. In a sign of bipartisan confidence in him, Freeh, a Republican, was appointed as FBI director by President Bill Clinton. The New York Times greeted his appointment by citing those who had known and worked with him as having said that "unlike some who rise to high office, Judge Freeh (pronounced free) has achieved his status not so much by making the right moves as by doing the right thing".

Eugene Sullivan

Judge Eugene Sullivan is a former judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. He served in the White House on the legal defence team of President Nixon during the Watergate investigation. For eight years, he was in the US Department of Justice, Washington, D.C. Later, before he became a Federal Judge in 1986, Judge Sullivan served in the Pentagon for almost five years as the Air Force General Counsel and the Chief Ethics Officer of the US Air Force after serving initially as the Deputy General Counsel. He also served in the Pentagon as the General Counsel of the National Reconnaissance Office, a then-secret US satellite intelligence agency.

Barry McManus

Dr Barry McManus is a leading expert in information elicitation, deception detection, behavioural assessment, interviews and interrogations. He served in the Clandestine Service of the US Central Intelligence Agency and more than 20 years as a polygraph examiner with the CIA, including 10 years as Chief Polygraph Examiner. He received the CIA's Intelligence Medal in recognition of accomplishments in support of US intelligence and national security policy. He is the author of Liar: The Art of Detecting Deception and Eliciting Responses.

Subagyo Hadi Siswoyo

General ( Ret.) Subagyo Hadi Siswoyo was Indonesia's Army Chief of Staff from 1998 to 1999, the only one to have served three different presidents. He has been a member of the Presidential Advisory Council since 2015. His career was spent in Kopassus (Special Forces). He was seconded as President Suharto's personal security escort; shot to fame after having taken part in a raid on a hijacked Garuda plane in Bangkok in 1981; and was Commander of Kopassus in the mid-1990s. His illustrious military career brought him into close contact with key events of contemporary Indonesian political history such as the May 1998 riots. He succeeded in managing rivalries within the Indonesian military.

Ishak Ismail

Brigadier-General (Ret) Ishak Ismail served in the Singapore Armed Forces retiring in 2011 as Commander 6th Division and concurrently Commander of the Combined Arms Tactics Centre (CATC). In his 29 years of service, he had contributed significantly in training transformation for the Army. He is currently Regional Director for BAE Systems Hägglunds. His previous private sector experiences were with CWT Limited as CEO Defence Services and with ST Electronics (e-Services) Pte Ltd as Senior Vice-President/General Manager. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Maritime & Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore. He is still actively involved with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) as an Operationally Ready NSman and also sits in various MINDEF and SAF Councils/Panels.

Jusman Syafii

Jusman Syafii is the Chairman of Garuda Indonesia, the national airline of Indonesia. He was formerly Indonesia's Transport Minister. He has held strategic positions in the aviation industry including two decades of work as a professional aerodynamics engineer specialising in computational aerodynamics and configuration development. He currently also serves as President Commissioner of PT Cardig Aero Services, President Commissioner of PT Toba Bara Sejahtra, and Chairman of Matsushita Gobel Foundation. He was appointed by then president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in 2010 to be a member of the National Innovation Committee. He is the author of Grand Techno Economic Strategy: A Strategy to Stimulate Productivity (Mizan, 2009).

As'ad Said Ali

As'ad Said Ali is a former deputy chief of Indonesia's State Intelligence Agency (Badan Intelijen Negara, or BIN), which he joined in 1974. From 1982 to 1990, he served in number of Middle-Eastern countries. In 1990-2000, he was the head of the Directorate of Middle Eastern and European Affairs, among other roles. He was BIN's deputy chief from 2001 till 2010, following which he became a member of the central board of the NahdlatulUlama, the largest independent Islamic organisation in the world with a membership of more than 50 million. He is the author of several books, including one on Al-Qaeda.

Arif Havas Oegroseno

Arif Havas Oegroseno is Deputy Minister in Indonesia's Co-ordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs. His mandate is maritime sovereignty and international cooperation. A former Director-General for Legal and International Treaty Affairs, he has led numerous bilateral, regional and multilateral negotiations on issues that include Indonesia's maritime boundaries, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, and extradition negotiations. He led the landmark negotiations that produced the Indonesia-Australia Security Framework Agreement, and was Indonesia's high-level legal expert on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations' Charter.

Leonard C. Sebastian

Dr Leonard C. Sebastian is Associate Professor and Co-ordinator of the Indonesia Programme at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS). He is one of the world's leading experts on Indonesia and Southeast Asia. He is author of Realpolitik Ideology: Indonesia's Use of Military Force (Institute of Southeast Asian Studies and Cambridge University Press, 2006) and his refereed articles have been published in several academic journals. He is author of the "Current Data on the Indonesian Military Elite" published periodically by the peer reviewed journal Indonesia produced by Cornell University's Southeast Asia Program. He is a co-editor of the Palgrave Macmillan book series Global Political Transitions. He was a Visiting Fulbright Scholar at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University from September to December 2005, and sits on the Advisory Panel to the Government Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Foreign Affairs (GPC-DFA).
